I chose to analyze an interview from "The Daily Show with Trevor Noah" with Tiffany Haddish.
Trevor Noah begins his interview by introducing Tiffany Haddish as an author of her new book "The Last Black Unicorn". He then compliments her by comparing her to the sun as a human being. He states that he has read her book, and sort of flirts with her at the same time.
- "How important is comedy in your life?"
- Comedy is a huge part of her life and she does it for a living, so to find out how important it is to her shows how much she really cares for her career.
- "...At the comedy camp, you met Richard Pryor."
- "You have a story where you talk about joining the church of Scientology......They let you go!"
- "They've got these bunk beds they want you to sleep on?" (Clarification)
- "You have the ability to take a situation that anybody would consider as a failure and turn it into this success. One of my favorite stories.....What you did to get back at him with Bertha is one of the greatest things ever. Could you tell the people the story?"
- "Some people right now do not understand the craziness of this story....How do you think of this as an idea and Bertha goes and you made her money, so much money that her friends joined in as well." (Clarification of the story she told)
- "Like I just feel like there are human beings that crack the code of life. You're the real Neal from the matrix that's what you are."
- "You are in every single way. What like when we're reading this book. There are so many things you go through, your childhood, you go through you working, there's....working at the airports."
- "Did you work as a baggage handler?" (Clarification)
- "Please tell me how you came to date a baggage handler who had one arm I believe?"
- "Awwww" (Follow-up Reaction)
- "So wait he ..... does he win?" (Clarification)
Trevor Noah makes a lot of moves in this interview. First of all, he reacts to all of Haddish's answers and comments by laughing. He talked a lot about the book she had written, which shows he did his research before interviewing her. He even stated different parts of the book that he loved or that made him laugh. He asked a lot of follow up questions to her answers, just to make sure her stories were clear not only to himself but also to the audience.
